Safe Driving and Road Transportation Policy

SEASHORE is committed to practice of safe driving and followed in its Operations (Transportation activities). It is essential to maintain all our driver’s ability to perform their jobs effectively. To achieve highest standards in all areas of health and safety. Our drivers are relied upon to observe all the rules of the road, in addition to guidance related to the use and maintenance of vehicles. We therefore, each have a responsibility to not only protect ourselves when on the road but also should do our part to protect those around us.

Seashore policy statement shall include the following:

  • Vehicles must be well maintained, equipped with standard safety equipment and have all legal documentation.
  • Drivers must be in good health and have a valid driving license for the vehicle to be driven;
  • Driver should inspect the vehicle before and after the journey.
  • All drivers and passengers properly wear seat belts at all time, before engine starts.
  • Any discrepancy in the condition of the vehicle is reported to the maintenance in charge and rectification is made on urgent basis.
  • All driver should follow the lifesaving rules; Use of handheld cell phones/ head phones, while driving is strictly prohibited.
  • Smoking is prohibited inside the vehicle.
  • The journey plan must take in consideration pre-journey work duties, the length of the trip and post journey commitments in order to reduce the risk of fatigue.
  • Daily driving period shall not exceed 9 hours, with regularly break & total weekly driving time may not exceed 54 hours.
  • Banksman/Flag man is made available while reversing the vehicle.
  • Drivers are expected to follow all driving laws and safety rules such as adherence to posted speed limits and directional sign, use of turn signals and avoidance of confrontational or offensive behavior while driving.
  • Drivers must abide the speed limits, traffic regulations and the rules established by local regulations.
  • Drivers must maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
  • Drivers shall attend training and awareness session “Defensive Driving” every year.
  • Employees must promptly report any accidents to local law enforcement as well as to the concerned in accordance with established procedures.
  • Drivers must avoid night, adverse weather driving if possible.
  • Failure to adhere to this policy may result in disciplinary action as per company policy.
